Back up all Packages in ubuntu

Hi . When we reinstall our system , we will forget packages what we install in old one .

So we will reinstall packages that we install already . Today when I reinstall ubuntu , I learnt

how to take back up all packages from our old machine.

First we see packages in our system that was installed in one system

sathia@sathia-Aspire-5738:~$ dpkg –get-selections

we can take backup by writing these contents into file by –

sathia@sathia-Aspire-5738:~$ dpkg –get-selections > backup.log

we require to internet to restore our packages in our new system .

When we installed our ubuntu , we need to type a command

sathia@sathia-Aspire-5738:~$ dpkg –set-selections < backup.log

Then we need to install tool dselect . to install our package

sathia@sathia-Aspire-5738:~$ sudo apt-get install dselect

then type

sathia@sathia-Aspire-5738:~$ sudo dselect

then select Install , and get your system as your old one 🙂
